"Let us work, Cabrini. Let us work. We have an eternity to rest." Pope Leo XIII
The future of the National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini is dependent upon you as we are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization deriving our income solely through private donations and subsequently, receive no funding from Chicago’s Archdiocese or any parish. You may sustain our Shrine ministry by making a planned gift in any of the following ways:
Gifts may be made for a specific dollar amount, a percentage of the total estate or the residuum remaining after all debts, taxes, expenses and other bequests have been paid. Specific bequests of property such as real estate may also be made. If you plan to include the Shrine in your estate plans, kindly let us know by calling Sr. Bridget Zanin, MSC at 773-360-5733 or Barbara Willis, Development Manager, at 773-360-5746.
Tax Deferred Retirement Plan
You may name a charity as a beneficiary in a tax deferred retirement plan such as an IRA, Keough Plan, 401(k) plans and 403(b) plans. The distribution from any of these plans would happen after your death and may be advantageous from a tax point for your family.
Life Insurance Gifts
An excellent way to make a charitable gift is through policies that are no longer needed for family protection or business purposes regardless if all the premiums have been paid. When ownership of the policy is irrevocably assigned to The National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, the cash value of the policy is a tax- deductible gift, as are all future premium payments. By establishing new life insurance policies, specifically for The National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, a donor can make a substantial gift for a relatively modest annual outlay.
In exchange for a gift of cash or securities, The National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini will guarantee to pay you and/or another beneficiary a specified annuity. This is one of the oldest and simplest ways of making a gift, and in addition to the current charitable deduction, a portion of each annuity payment is income tax free.
The Shrine welcomes gifts of bonds. A person who has a charitable intent can apply 100% of the bond’s value to a specific charitable purpose.
